Friendship development and Sibling support
Facilitated Playdates (For all ages starting at 2.5 years old)
Let’s Play!! Relationship development and play skills are essential parts of every child’s development. We facilitate playdates for children starting at 2.5 years old and our programs include the following:
Conduct assessments based on your child’s current play skills at home or in our centre, in the school setting, and in the community
Develop appropriate play date objectives with clear goals based on your child's assessment results and your values
Graph data to illustrate progress and make program changes based on these graphs
Provide the option of having one of our staff run the playdates or we can train you to do it!
Provide training by an assigned consultant and/or program manager to caregivers and school staff to run facilitated play dates in the home, at our centre, or at preschool/elementary school
Playdates can be facilitated in your home, our centre, your child’s daycare, school, and community settings
SIBLING SUPPORT - Happy Hour (For All ages)
Happy Hour is a program built around sibling support. It’s aimed at supporting siblings on how to play and interact with their sister or brother and at developing relationships between our learners and their siblings. The name of this program was coined by a family in Australia who requested a sibling play program from our behaviour analyst whilst she resided there.
For this program we:
Conduct assessments based on your child’s independent play skills and on his/her play skills with siblings
Develop appropriate play objectives and clear goals for your child and his/her siblings in collaboration with yourself and siblings when appropriate
Train caregivers and siblings, including the provision of hands on training. Our behaviour analyst will play with both children while training the sibling in a fun and easy manner
Provide a clear and user-friendly data sheet for parents to use to track progress
Provide graphs to illustrate progress
*Note this program is aimed at developing play skills that teach our learners how to play and interact with their sibling(s). If your children are experiencing challenging behaviours (e.g. fighting and arguing), we are happy to develop a behaviour support program for this specific issue.
Please fill contact info@happyoak.ca if you are interested in either of the above programs.
